It's New Zealand made day and as a proud New Zealand brand, we're thrilled to celebrate and support our fellow local businesses.
97% of New Zealand businesses are small companies with fewer than 20 employees. They employ 29% of our workforce, so supporting local really makes a big difference.
We thought this was the perfect opportunity to share some of our favourite local brands.
Kind Face
It turns out the benefits of wool that make it so perfect for clothes, also apply to bedding. Kind Face pillows and duvets are breathable, temperature regulating and hypoallergenic. Like, us, Kind Face understand the importance of knowing your supply chain intimately, sourcing Wisewool from a family owned business which uses no chemicals or additives.
The result is bedding that will give you an incredible night's sleep. Made in Auckland and sourced in Gisborne, it doesn’t get more NZ Made than this, which is why we’re so excited to be collaborating with Kind Face on our NZ Made Day giveaway. See our socials for more details.
Hāna Botanicals
Based in tropical Northland, Hāna Botanicals is a Māori owned and operated skincare company using exclusively natural ingredients. Their beautiful, ultra-nourishing formulas are crafted from extracts grown in pristine, regenerative native forests. Ingredients are harvested only as needed, or during the appropriate lunar cycle to ensure exceptional qualities. We are excited to now stock Hāna Botanicals in our Untouched World stores, so pop in and give it a try.
Cleanery
The mission to solve a problem is an origin story we can relate to, and one we share with Cleanery. The cleaning and personal care products we regularly use are sold in single use bottles and are largely made of water and nasty chemicals. Cleanery’s founders Mark and Ellie knew there had to be a better way, so they created it - Cleanery products come as a refill sachet of powder you add to water in a reusable bottle.
The resulting products reduce waste without compromise, something else we can relate to. Their product results in 99% less packaging, as well as being incredibly effective and naturally formulated. All you have to do is add water.
Deep Down Wines
Deep Down Wines refer to themselves as ‘a collaboration of art and conscience’, A lofty claim for a winemaker, but one they thoroughly back up. Owned by two families, Deep Down Wines are small batch, low intervention, and delicious.
They manage their vineyards with respect, acknowledging the importance of the land they harvest from. They are also 100% certified Organic and part of the B Corp family.
On Sundays'
On Sundays’ delicious, restorative herbal teas are hand-blended in Auckland using organic ingredients. All blends are free from artificial colours and flavours and the brand avoids tea bags because they often contain glues, bleach, and chemicals. On Sundays also makes sure to use large cut leaves and flowers so that the blends retain as many nutrients and health benefits as possible.
Shirl + Moss
This New Zealand chocolate brand takes its name from the founder’s grandparents – Shirley and Maurice. The supply chain for the certified organic cacao is 100% traceable back to its origin in Brazil. Once the beans reach NZ, they are hand sorted, roasted, and refined. Then, rather than rushing the chocolate out of the door, it is aged for two to three months to allow it to develop flavour and character.
Goodbye
Goodbye makes natural products that help you enjoy the outdoors. Founded by two outdoor guides, Goodbye’s products include bug repellents, sun balms, SPFs, and bite soothers, all designed to be effective, portable and minimally packaged, with 100% natural ingredients. The brand is a A fellow BCorp brand, and they really go the extra mile to ensure the longevity of everything they make. Some of their products even double up as leather footwear conditioners and furniture polish.
CZE Hair
Created by celebrated hairstylist Chloe Zara, CZE Hair is formulated and made in New Zealand with clean beauty principles and premium ingredients. All the ingredients are renewable, sustainable and ethically sourced, and when it comes to their packaging, the bottles and tubes are 100 percent recyclable and made from post-consumer recycled material.
Prima Roastery
Prima Roastery is all about making coffee that’s really good – for everybody. That’s why we serve it in our café. Since 1995, Prima has been driven by both flavour and sustainability. It’s a Fairtrade Licensed roastery right here in Christchurch, which pays employees a living wage and delivers locally using reusable tins or locally made compostable bags. Aware of the limited infrastructure for commercial composting, they worked hard to establish their own – experimenting with composting on their own farms and building up a network of partners who have larger scale capabilities.
